Our people:

Mark

Comms, Creative, Media

I have lived in Bicester for 12 years, and my family’s connection to the town goes back further, with my parents also having lived here. My wife and I have raised our two children in Bicester, and we love calling it home.

One of the things I value most about Bicester is its strong sense of community. Whether it is through our local coffee shops, pubs, schools or community groups, there is a genuine feeling that people know one another, look out for each other and are willing to help when it matters.

Professionally, I run a local design and creative agency specialising in websites, marketing and design. Within Wrong Plan Wrong Site, I head up communications, media and creative, helping to make sure the facts, questions and work of the campaign are communicated clearly and reach people across the community.

Why I’m involved

Wrong Plan Wrong Site is the first community campaign I have been involved with, but I felt too strongly about this proposal to stand on the sidelines.

As a husband and father, I am concerned about the potential impact on the safety and wellbeing of women, children and families, as well as the wider effect on our community.

Before a decision of this scale is made, I believe the Government must properly demonstrate that MOD Bicester Site A is safe and appropriate, and that the consequences of accommodating 1,250 adult men in one location have been thoroughly assessed. Local people deserve proper consultation, clear evidence and honest answers.

My belief

“Our community should not come second to the Government’s desire to reduce its reliance on asylum hotels. Decisions of this scale must be based on evidence, proper consultation and a full understanding of their impact on the people who already live here. Government must be accountable for the consequences of the choices it makes.”
