Small boat carrying record number of migrants for single vessel arrives in UK

Sky News reported that 230 people arrived in a single small boat, setting a new record for the number carried on one vessel. At that point, 15,049 people were reported to have crossed the Channel in 2026, although total small-boat arrivals were 42% lower than at the equivalent point in 2025. The figures provide wider context for the Government’s continuing efforts to change the asylum accommodation system.

The campaign has reached a critical new stage.

Wrong Plan Wrong Site has officially launched a High Court legal challenge against the Government’s decision not to require a full Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed development at MOD Bicester Site A.

We believe a development of this scale must be subject to proper environmental scrutiny, and we’re asking the High Court to examine whether the Government’s decision was lawful.
