Greg Smith has reaffirmed his opposition to the Government’s proposal to use MOD Bicester Site A for asylum accommodation following a meeting with representatives of the Wrong Plan Wrong Site campaign.
Greg met with campaigners Janet and Deborah to discuss the proposal and how the campaign and local representatives can work together to prevent the plans from going ahead.
Following the meeting, Greg described the proposed use of the site as “totally inappropriate” and said the discussion had focused on how the groups could work together to “stop this scheme ever seeing the light of day”.
He highlighted concerns about the potential impact on communities on both sides of the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire border, including Boarstall, Marsh Gibbon, Ludgershall, Oakley, Brill and Long Crendon.
Greg also encouraged residents to support the Wrong Plan Wrong Site campaign and directed people to the Take Action section of the campaign website.
The meeting is another important step in building cross-community and political support against the proposal for large-scale asylum accommodation at MOD Bicester Site A.
Wrong Plan Wrong Site continues to call on the Government to reconsider the suitability of Site A and to listen to the concerns being raised by residents, parish councils and representatives across the surrounding area.
Residents who would like to support the campaign can visit our Take Action page to find practical ways to get involved.
