The response from our communities has been extraordinary.
Based on the objections copied to the campaign, almost 1,500 people have already submitted objections to the proposed asylum accommodation development at MOD Bicester Site A.
That is a significant response, particularly given the exceptionally short time residents have been given to scrutinise the proposal.
But we are not finished yet.
The formal representation period closes at midnight tonight, Thursday 17 September. Cherwell District Council has confirmed that comments and objections must be submitted directly to the Government by that deadline.

Every objection counts
You might wonder whether one more email can really make a difference.

Every evidence-based objection puts another resident’s concerns formally on the record and adds to the evidence the decision-maker must consider.
And there are serious planning questions surrounding this proposal.
They include:
- incomplete ecological surveys and questions over protected species
- contamination and ground conditions on a former munitions site
- unresolved wastewater and infrastructure issues
- road safety, transport and accessibility
- flooding and drainage
- the scale and suitability of the proposed development
- questions arising from the environmental assessment and screening process
